Prepared September 2026
Price of €33.000,00 agreed. Immediate payment €6.500,00.
Further €10.000,00 paid.
Ombra d.o.o. began the works in January and partially completed them in September. Ombra then issued a final invoice for the outstanding amount of €19.000,00. Neither a handover report nor a warranty certificate was issued.
The invoice was partially disputed, and concerns were formally raised regarding the inadequate execution of the works.
A further €10.000,00 was paid.
The parties remained in contact regarding the completion of the installation. Installers visited the property several times, but the issues were not resolved. Ombra’s director stated that photographs had been sent to the screen manufacturer, Renson, and that the condition was consistent with Renson’s quality standards.
Photographs and a text message were sent to Ombra’s director, requesting that the company either resolve the issues or remove the installed screens.
Promises of service visits continued throughout the year. Explanations included staff sickness, while messages were repeatedly forwarded between contacts. No solution was offered, and the company could not be reached by telephone.
Renson was contacted, and communication took place with Mr Goodman and Mr Maxim De Vriese. Subsequently, Mr De Vriese ceased responding to emails and could not be reached by telephone.
At the BAU trade fair in Munich, Renson’s representative for Slovenia, Mr Maxim De Vriese, was personally informed of the matter. He stated that he had not received the message sent in February. As agreed, a new message and photographs were subsequently sent to him. Despite several follow-up attempts, Mr De Vriese ceased responding to emails and could not be reached by telephone.
A meeting took place with Ombra’s director at his office. During the meeting, he asserted that Ombra’s work had not been paid in full. The client immediately confirmed that he was prepared to pay the outstanding amount that same day, requesting only the issuance of a handover report and a warranty certificate.
Ombra’s director asked for the matter to be submitted by email, which was done. From that point onwards, however, he ignored all further communication, stopped responding to emails and did not return any calls.
A further email summarising the full history of the matter was sent to Mr Goodman and Mr Maxim De Vriese.
At BAU Munich, the matter was again discussed in person with Mr Maxim De Vriese, Mr Dieter Pillen and Mr Dieter Bodwin. Mr De Vriese initially appeared to have difficulty recalling the previous communications concerning the matter. After the situation and its history were presented again, they stated that they would personally ensure that the matter was resolved by the end of 2025, which, given that it was only January at the time, provided more than sufficient time to bring the matter to a satisfactory resolution.
Mr De Vriese confirmed by message that Ombra’s director had also visited Renson and had acknowledged “issues with the product” and a “partially open invoice”.
Mr Rony Van Tittelboom made contact and took over the coordination of an on-site inspection.
A Renson technician inspected the property and confirmed that all three corner screens needed to be replaced. On 15 May, Mr Van Tittelboom was informed of the technician’s conclusion by email.
Despite repeated emails and telephone calls, no further response was received from Renson through September 2026.
